Bible verse for today (move the mouse to the reference to read the verse)
(Mat. 12:36) "But I say unto you, that every idle word which men shall say, they shall render an account of it in judgment-day:"
We are all guilty of speaking idle words. Idle words are described as useless, empty etc. Idle words are not edifying words. They neither profit the speaker nor the hearer. We are warned by God that that the most insignificant thing can bring us into judgment. Words are powerful. We may not think of somethings we say as unimportant and soon forgotten. From the verse quoted above reminds us that we will be asked to give an account of every idle word.

We need to learn to measure our words before we speak them. Weighty words and idle words can shape the life of people. Meaningful words spoken can bring knowledge and help even to rectify the character of a person. In contrast to this, idle words are a waste of time. They are spoken thoughtlessly and can injure a person emotionally. Let us be more careful of the words we speak to one another and even to God in prayer. (Psa. 19:14) "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Jehovah, my Rock and my Redeemer."
