Have you ever gone fishing on a boat in the sea? Do you know the feeling when you are not able to catch anything? Simon Peter had fished all night and was not able to catch anything. At daybreak on the shore, Jesus wanted to use his boat to speak to the people. Simon was willing and let Jesus into his boat. After Jesus finished speaking, He said to Simon to launch out into the deep for a catch. Simon an experienced angler stated his plight of having toiled all night and he got nothing. Nevertheless, he complied with the command of Jesus. Simon was so surprised he needed help from other anglers for so great was the quantity of fish the net had pulled up. The reaction of Peter was, (Luke 5:8) "When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord."
We can see from this recorded history to let Jesus into our lives and to obey His commands. Our life will be filled with blessings not only material but also spiritual. God wants us to be effective fishers of men. That was His commandment. (Mat 28:18-20) "And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Let us obey this commandment in spite of all our fears, apprehensions and objections. Let Him take charge, launch out and let go. Let us see our own inability and His ability.
