Bible verse for today (move the mouse to the reference to read the verse)
(John 5:11) “But he answered them, "The man who healed me, that man said to me, 'Take up your bed, and walk.'"
Jesus healed the impotent man. For thirty-eight long years, none of the people cared for him. Jesus told the man to take his bed and walk. The Jews started to question the man, “Who is the man who asked you to take up your bed and walk on the Sabbath day?” The miracle of healing was oblivious to the legalistic eyes of the Jews. They were looking for a man who was asking others to profane the Sabbath. Little did they realize it was not man but it was God who had healed him and told him to do pick his bed up and walk.

The Sabbath was a command given by God. It was for the benefit of man. God commanded man to rest from his labors as God did on the seventh day after creation. Jesus is Emmanuel – God with us. (Phi. 2:5-7) “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.” The priests in the tabernacle offered sacrifices on the Sabbath and they were not violating the Sabbath. Jesus asked, (Mar 3:4) “And he said to them, "Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?" But they were silent.” (Luke 6:5) And he said to them, "The Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath." When the Lord command we obey. We cannot play into the hands of the legalistic minds.
