As believers, we mind the things of the Spirit because we are a people not after the flesh. Rom. 8:5. This has to extend to all those who believe on Jesus Christ. Our minds concerning other believers should be with a spiritual vision, always finding the good in others. If we find ourselves wise in our own conceits, we become the most miserable of men. We have to live in peace and harmony.
What we see today is, like-mindedness is lacking. Everyone has an opinion and that to with animosity cultivated in the past, determines whether one agrees with another. The Corinthians had many opinions among them. Some wanted to look at Apollos, Peter or Paul. They looked to the flesh aspects of these men with their abilities. Divisions in this way are quiet common these days also in the church and politically in the world outside the church. The world comes into the church. In short, there is no unity in the church.
Apostle Paul asks them a question, were any of these men crucified for their sins? The answer is “NO” it was Jesus Christ. Unity and like-mindedness come from Jesus Christ. There is no one else who can unite people together other than Jesus Christ. It is because we are bound to Christ by His love and have the same Spirit indwelling us. The Holy Spirit governs our thinking, opinions and actions. It is only in this unity we can stand for Christ and the gospel. If there is no unity, growth is stunted. If there is no one accord nothing is accomplished. If there is not one mind among believers, how can we stand united for the gospel? We need to humble ourselves and have the mind of Christ.
